PROUD MOMENT: The JSS Kubwa II Pilot Program is a Resounding Success!

Dear Thrive Africa Family,

Group Admin here! We are absolutely thrilled to share the official impact report from a truly groundbreaking initiative. On May 22, 2026, our very own Abuja Vegan Food Connect and AfriHub successfully executed a special Home Economics Practical Pilot Program at Junior Secondary School Kubwa II, Abuja.

Under the inspiring theme, “CUISINE WITH CONSCIENCE: Teaching Tradition and Cooking the Future,” this initiative has completely redefined vocational education. We trained junior secondary students to prepare spectacular local delicacies entirely from plants, proving that healthy eating can be affordable, traditional, and incredibly delicious.

Here is a breakdown of the amazing milestones we achieved together during this pilot!

🌟 Key Highlights & Major Wins

1. Deepening Vegan Advocacy & Education

Students were introduced to the true meaning of a vegan lifestyle—one rooted in compassion, health, and sustainability. Mirroring our creative paper-animation concepts, the students thoroughly explored 50 incredible benefits of plant-based living, spanning personal longevity, robust health, and global environmental protection.

2. A Plant-Powered Vocational Masterclass

Students and teachers rolled up their sleeves and fully mastered the step-by-step preparation of:

  • Tofu (Local Awara)
  • Rich Vegetable Sauce seasoned with natural spices
  • White Rice & Nutrient-Dense Moi-Moi
  • Fresh Zobo Drinks The most amazing part? Everything was prepared beautifully without a single shred of meat, fish, or artificial additives!

3. Launching a Health Revolution in the Kitchen

School educators warmly praised the curriculum for teaching children to choose medicinal, natural plant proteins over heavily processed, chemical-laden foods. This vital knowledge shields the next generation from early cardiovascular issues and liver problems, setting them up for a lifetime of wellness.

4. Immediate Economic Empowerment

Vocational skills are tools for survival and independence. Mrs. Okeke Ogechi and the Vice Principal (Academic), Mrs. Ifeoma Evelyne, both emphasized that these skills are immediate revenue generators. With Awara selling daily in the school canteen and Zobo commanding ₦300 in the local market, these skills give vulnerable students the financial independence to fund their studies and resist negative social vices.

5. Nurturing a Compassionate Next-Gen

The student interviews were deeply moving. It was beautiful to hear the children proudly express that “animals have feelings too and we shouldn’t butcher them.” They have completely embraced the philosophy of a Cuisine with Conscience.

💬 What the School Authorities are Saying

“The Plant-Powered Kitchen directly promotes vital skill acquisition. Our main objective is to bolster the kids’ ability to use local vegetables as a source of protein instead of expensive meats. We strongly plead with the organizers for this program to continue permanently in our school.”

Mrs. Ifeoma Evelyne, Vice Principal (Academic), JSS Kubwa II

“I want this class expanded to our Home Makers Club immediately. These skills will help them start making healthy foods and generate independent income the moment they graduate.”

Mrs. Fatima Ibrahim, Home Economics Instructor

💚 A Massive Thank You!
