AfriHub for Digital is a hybrid social enterprise initiative and the brainchild of the Africommunity Technology Development Centre (ATDC). It is dedicated to equipping school children, teachers, young job seekers, civil society organisations (CSOs), and local communities with 21st-century digital competencies, STEM innovation skills, and modern technology frameworks for work, enterprise, and social impact.

The initiative directly addresses the evolving global digital economy by bridging the learning gap in schools, building educator EdTech capacity, and preparing youth for high-demand, technology-driven careers.

Our Purpose

We aim to make practical digital skills, STEM learning, and AI tools universally accessible—especially to underserved schools, young people, and grassroots organisations. Through hands-on workshops, school STEM & robotics clubs, teacher capacity-building bootcamps, and practical youth mentorship, we build confidence, foster innovation, and enable responsible technology adoption across communities.

What We Do

1. STEM, Coding & Robotics for School Children

We introduce primary and secondary school students to interactive STEM education that fuels curiosity, creativity, and logical problem-solving:

  • Coding & Software Logic: Block-based programming (Scratch, mBlock) progressing to text-based coding (Python) for young learners.
  • Educational Robotics & Hardware: Hands-on hardware assembly, sensor integration, and logic building using robotics kits (mBot, Arduino).
  • 21st-Century Learning: Real-world projects structured to build critical thinking, creative problem-solving, team collaboration, and computational thinking.
  • Responsible AI Use for Kids: Guiding children early on to understand digital wellness, online safety, AI ethics, and safe internet practices.

2. Teacher Capacity Building: EdTech, STEM & AI in Education

Teachers are the primary catalysts of educational reform. We build capacity among educators to integrate technology seamlessly into classroom instruction:

  • Educational Technology (EdTech) Integration: Practical tools for blended learning, digital lesson preparation, and interactive classroom management.
  • STEM Pedagogy: Training teachers to facilitate project-based STEM experiments, robotics modules, and hands-on learning labs.
  • AI in Education: Equipping educators to leverage AI for automated lesson planning, custom learning materials, student assessment, and administrative efficiency.

3. High-Demand AI Skills & Youth Employability

We prepare young people, graduates, and job seekers for the modern job market by teaching in-demand digital and AI skill sets:

  • Applied AI & Prompt Engineering: Practical application of generative AI tools for research, business communication, content creation, and workflow automation.
  • Future-Proof Livelihoods: Skill pathways into freelancing, digital marketing, graphic design, web administration, remote work, and tech-enabled micro-enterprises.
  • Career Readiness: Mentorship, digital portfolio development, and hands-on project experience to foster long-term employability.

4. Basic Digital Literacy & Essential Productivity

  • Computer Fundamentals: Operating systems, hardware navigation, file organization, and system security.
  • Productivity Tools: Practical training in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace for seamless digital collaboration.
  • Cybersecurity & Data Privacy: Web safety, safe browsing habits, and personal digital security practices.

5. Digital Capacity for CSOs, NGOs & Communities

  • Civil Society Digital Systems: Cloud infrastructure, digital documentation, and data management for non-profits and community groups.
  • Digital Outreach & Advocacy: Social media management, digital communication strategies, website presence, and online fundraising.
  • Community Innovation: Utilizing technology for local problem-solving, youth mobilization, and expanded access to economic opportunities.
